Just as nature depends on a delicate equilibrium, with the expansion of the human population we achieved great things, but a lot of those accomplishments came at a large cost, in some places destroying the complete basis where ecosystems depend on. From now on our role as humans is to rebuild and support that balance in everything we do.

My name is Sam Guetens, and The Equation of Time is the place where my photography and my commitment to nature come together. I grew up just outside Antwerp, close enough to the city to feel its rhythm but close enough to the forest to understand the value of stillness. That balance shaped the way I see the world and the way I photograph wildlife.

This project began with a simple belief. If nature gives me these moments, then the work I create from them should give something back. Every print in The Equation of Time is part of that intention.

I do not see these prints as products. I see them as a way to keep people connected to the natural world. A reminder that beauty carries responsibility and that responsibility can create real impact. Through this project, I want the moments I witness in the wild to contribute to keeping that wild alive.
